1. Introduction

The Inclusive Education Hub for Africa ("IE Hub," "we," "us," or "our") is a platform operated by LM International, dedicated to providing resources, community, and learning opportunities that advance inclusive education across Africa. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit or use our platform at iehubforafrica.org (the "Platform"), including its community features, resource library, and online courses.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

  • Profile Information: biography, professional background, interests, and any content you choose to add to your public profile.
  • Community Participation: posts, comments, messages, forum discussions, and group memberships within the community area of the Platform.

  • Communications: information you provide when contacting us for support, feedback, or inquiries.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: pages visited, resources accessed, time spent on the Platform, links clicked, and search queries.
  • Device and Log Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: used to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and analyze Platform usage (see Section 6).

2.3 Accessibility Preferences

If you use our built-in accessibility widget, we may store your display preferences (e.g., font size, contrast settings) to improve your experience. These preferences are used solely to support accessibility and are not used for profiling.

2.4 Information from Third Parties

Where applicable, we may receive limited information from identity or social login providers, or from partner organizations referring users to the Platform (e.g., LM International's partner network).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and manage your account and community profile;
  • Provide access to educational resources, courses, and certificates;
  • Facilitate community interaction, discussion forums, and peer support;
  • Personalize and improve the Platform's content and accessibility features;
  • Communicate with you about updates, resources, or administrative matters;
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve Platform performance and security;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (Where Applicable)

Where the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or similar laws apply, we process personal data on the following bases:

  • Consent — for optional features such as newsletters or profile visibility;
  • Contract — to provide services you sign up for (e.g., course enrollment);
  • Legitimate Interest — to improve and secure the Platform;
  • Legal Obligation — where required by applicable law.

5. Children's Privacy

The IE Hub Platform is intended for educators, administrators, students, and organizations engaged in inclusive education. Where the Platform is used by or on behalf of minors (e.g., students accessing learning content through a school or guardian account), we rely on the responsible educational institution, parent, or guardian to obtain any necessary consent and to supervise the minor's use of the Platform. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children without appropriate consent, and we encourage schools and guardians to review this Policy before enabling student access.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in and maintain session security;
  • Remember your preferences and accessibility settings;
  • Understand how visitors use the Platform through analytics.

You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may limit some Platform functionality, such as staying logged in or accessing certain community features.

7. How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Service Providers: hosting, analytics, email delivery, and technical support providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • LM International and Affiliated Partners: to support program administration, reporting, and impact evaluation, in an aggregated or de-identified form where possible.
  • Legal and Safety Purposes: where required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and property of the Platform, its users, or the public.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Platform's services. We may retain certain information for a longer period where required for legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, or to resolve disputes.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted connections, access controls, and secure hosting — to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Request deletion of your personal data;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 13.

11. International Data Transfers

As IE Hub serves users and partner organizations across multiple African countries and internationally, your information may be processed or stored in a country other than your own. Where such transfers occur, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable data protection laws.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
